The Saadian Tombs are located on the site of the 12th century necropolis of the medieval West African Empire of Ghana. They consist of a mausoleum and a cemetery, containing the tombs of several members of the Moroccan Royal Family with chambers, inner courtyards, etc.
The site is considered an outstanding example of Moroccan architecture and the biggest and best preserved tomb of its kind in the empire.
The tombs were built to honour the Royal Family and now offer an insight into the beliefs and customs of the time. Not to be missed!
